Amy had a birthday

last week as well and is now 10 years old. She and Samantha had a joint party on Saturday. We did the same Halloween party that we did last year. It was a blast. I'll try to get some pics posted soon. On her actual birthday, the 11th, we had cheeseburgers and ice cream cake. I was actually going to make roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy, but i wasn't feeling well. instead we had it on Tuesday and it turned out great. I even made real gravy just for Amy because she loves gravy with her mashed potatoes, but it isn't my forte so i usually skip it (i'm a butter person myself). She got new bedding and loves it, plus some curtains. Very cute. And although she is now 10 years old, she will always be Little Mimi to us. Happy Birthday Mim!!

No one has been more excited

for their birthday than Samantha was to turn 13. And to top it off she had a great day. Friends at school gave her cards and candy and decorated her locker. I made homemade fettucine and topped it with the most amazing alfredo sauce ever. It was so good. We also had a small cheesecake and sang happy birthday. We got her new bedding and she was really excited about it. It looks great. she now wants to start getting accent pieces for her room, which will be something good for her to do with her money.

Over dinner we were telling her about the day she was born and other stories. The kids were all laughing so hard at some of the things she/they did. It is hard to believe that she is now 13. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

for some reason my computer will not load the pictures right now. I'll try again later.

This picture was taken

for a stake church activity. They wanted to show women serving others, and since they know i like to cook, they took one of me feeding my family. Luckily they cropped it for the presentation so you couldn't see the dryer, or Scott making a weird face. The lady asked me about an hour before dinner time, but i had luckily started early so it was ready and then kitchen was clean.

Samantha ran a 5K

for the first time on Saturday. That's 3.1 miles. She did a really great job. She didn't get her time, but they'll post it in a week or so and then I'll post it. Remembering my first 5K when I was 8, i told her to be careful not to take it out too fast. Well, it's hard to hold back when you're excited and don't really know how far 3 miles actually is. I just let her go figuring the first couple of races are so you can learn how to run it. We caught up to her at the 1 1/2 mile mark and she was very surprised to find out because she thought she was almost done. Marshall ran with her for a minute and then we ran ahead and let her do it on her own. I didn't see her finish, but she was pretty close behind us i think. I was impressed with how well she did and with how she was able to push through. We're going to do it again in a few weeks. As for my race, I ran slower than the first time we ran it this summer, only i didn't throw up after. As an excuse though, i have been cramping up all over my body all week. My legs, feet, sides, etc. and not just while I'm running, but when I'm doing nothing. And I've been really sore, though i haven't done anything different. I'm not sure what's going on, but hopefully it goes away soon. I definitely need more potassium and magnesium. Yuck!! I hate taking vitamins and refuse to eat bananas.

Wunderlich Farm

is right next to Samantha's school. The 4th grade does their field trip there (i'm going with Amy next week) and they also open to the public one Saturday a month. I'd been curious about it ever since we moved here so we visited a few weeks ago. I especially liked the school house, and you have to have a picture of the outhouse!

Samantha was excited to see the butter churn. She has been wanting to make butter forever. I guess i should finally let her.
Scott being naughty.
Amy being nice.
