Samantha swam at BYU

last week for JO's, the last short course meet of the season. She did really well and dropped time in everything, but the 200 breast. She cut 14 seconds in the 500 free, which was outstanding, and then told me after that she could have gone faster. My pictures all turned out blurry, but here are a few.Respect the suit!! this year. Her first meet was yesterday against Lakeridge Junior high. She ran the 1600 (1 mile) in 6.21 and came in 3rd, and also got 3rd in the 800 (1/2 mile), though I didn't get her time for that. She also ran the 4 x 400 relay. They got 2nd. It seemed like her school won most everything so I'm assuming they won the meet, but I never heard the results. It was freezing cold so we definitely need to be better prepared next time. Great Job Samantha!!

What turned out to be a miserable morning,

turned into a very special day. I have been sick for 3 days now and this morning I went to the clinic to do a strep test. Luckily no strep, just a viral infection, but by the time I got out of the clinic and got my prescription filled at Wal-Mart (Never go there, they took an hour and 15 minutes!) my in-laws had already arrived from Vernal and I had nothing ready. Luckily Milton and Stephanie stopped by the store and picked up rolls, lunch meat, cheese, veggie tray, fruit tray, cookies, chocolate milk, drinks and probably more that I can't think of right now, so everyone was able to eat lunch and I was able to get myself ready, plus do Samantha's and Amy's hair. He got a new suit and proudly took pictures with his dad before he headed down to the church.
His cousin Austin, Milton and Stephanie's son, was so cute. He wouldn't come to me, but as soon as he saw I wanted to take pictures of him, he totally posed for the camera.
Scott and Marshall ready for the dunking. Scott was a little concerned that the water would be cold, but it was warm. Amy gave the opening prayer and Samantha gave a talk on baptism. Marshall performed the baptism and the confirmation, which I wish I had thought to write down because he said some really wonderful things. A special thank you to Hanna who filled in for the pianist when she had to help her daughter after she was baptized. Most 14 year olds do not want to do impromptu performances, and Hanna was nervous, but she got up and did it anyway and played beautifully.

It's Great To Be Eight!

Scott had a great birthday. He started out the day taking doughnuts to swim team. Then he got to take doughnuts to his class at school. They sang happy birthday and made him a card, and he was the star for the day.




For his birthday dinner we had chili dogs and tater tots. Scott took one bite of his hot dog, and then took it out of the bun and just ate the bun. That is what he does all the time. He eats the bread with ketchup. Yuck! We had a wonderful chocolate cake and cookie dough ice cream. He got all the things he needs for scouts, a practice track for his pinewood derby car and a new pair of shoes. His real present is the birthday party he's having on Saturday for his friends at Pirate Island. Everyone is excited for that one.
