The trouble with Scott

His speech teacher recommended that he discontinue speech (Yay!) but that he have his adenoids checked out (boo!). So we took him to an ENT doctor yesterday. His adenoids and tonsils look really good (Yay!) but, according to the doctor, he has the worst deviated septum he has ever seen in a child (boo!). Also he has polyps that develop due to allergies that have never gone back down. So here is the scoop. He is taking steroids for 5 days and a nasal spray for 30 days to see if the polyps will go away. When he take him back in 30 days he will see the "actual" doctor who will determine if they want to do surgery on his nose. They said they don't usually do it in kids under 18 because they are still growing so they always have to have more surgeries later, but he said Scott cannot breathe at all through his right nostril, and in fact, it was so bad they couldn't put a scope in there to look at it. My poor sweet little boy. We did get Frosty's after the doctor's visit though. (Yay!)
He also was a baby astronaut in his class opera last night. His parents, those slackers, kind of forgot about a costume, so he had to wear his storm trooper costume, sans masks, which is a little too small, but it worked.

Marshall and I supervised while Scott and 2 other boys made the sign. He did Mars and some of the planets.
The kids wrote the opera themselves. Somethings about baby astronauts losing bananas that fall to Mars.
He's not much of a singer and he wasn't too excited about the binky.
Bananas and martians fighting. Only in 2nd grade.
A face only a mother could love.

More swimming

The kids swam in a meet the day before Easter.

Easter 2011

Marshall and I had the most miserable 16 mile run the day before and so I was pretty grumpy after that. Still, Easter was fun and I've got lots of pictures to prove it. We went to Vernal to see Marshall's great aunt who was visiting from Toronto. We woke up early and the kids got their baskets, which turned out super cute, but no pics. Scott had asked for a gun that made noise, Amy got earrings and Samantha got Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows pt.1. We drove to Vernal and went to church with Marshall's mom and then had dinner at Michelle's. She always has good food. See those earrings on Amy? They're new. But not from the Easter bunny. I told Scott the truth this year; mostly because I think the Easter Bunny is stupid, not cool like Santa Claus. He is pretty sure he now knows a secret the other kids don't know. I didn't bother telling him they all figured it out a few years ago. Scott and his cousin Anthony. They love to play, and then fight, and then play. Boys!
Samantha and my favorite baby in the whole world, Brooklyn.
Kinsley getting down to business.
Scott taking the time to smile for me before gathering many more eggs.
Amy is pretending not to pose, but I know better.
Samantha always poses.
Doing an egg tally.
The dentist has that same grin, knowing all the candy will put his kids through college.
Mitch and Kinsley. Once her hair grew in she sure looked a lot like her dad.
Never too old!
Anthony is pretty stoked. He likes Easter.
Marshall feeding Brooklyn her first pickle. Don't worry, her mom wasn't freaking out and asking who knew CPR just in case she choked!

New Shoes

They are pretty ugly but they feel pretty nice.

Mother's Day

I don't have any pictures, but it was a nice day. I got flowers, chocolates, flip flops, a ped egg and foot cream and a new purse, plus cards that Amy and Scott made for me. Marshall also gave me a 1/2 marathon entry into the Provo City race the day before. It was terrible. I ran so slowly and was just miserable the entire time. We had hot dogs and my favorite broccoli/cauliflower salad, as well as creme brulee. Yum!!

Freedom Festival

Amy participated in a freedom festival performance at the Marriott Center. A lot of 5th grade classes from Utah County were there. She was so excited about it. I couldn't get too close, but she is right in the middle of the pictures.

Scott got his Bobcat

and he also got "branded" since he is the newest scout. It was chalk stamped on his shirt. He tried to get out of it, but we got him anyway. He loves scouts and is doing a great job.
